Brown Bag Speech

You have completed your first speech of the year. I know that for some of you this was a nerve racking experience. I'm proud of all of the students who completed the assignment. With the use of the flip cameras you will now have the opportunity to critique your speech. You will have the opportunity to see your growth in speech making through the use of this technology. I think this will be a valuable tool. I'd like you to post your video and view it. If you do not know how to do this, I have included directions.

Here are the directions on how to do this.
1. Go to your blog and open up a New Post
2. On the tool bar pick the second from the right
3. Click on browse
4. Click on the students shared drive
5. Click on Anderson
6. Click on Lunn
7. Click on Brown Bag Speech
8. Find your speech and upload it

Once it is uploaded and posted on your blog...watch it. While you are watching it, critique yourself. Look for areas that you need to improve upon. Look for areas that you did well. Were you enthusiastic? Was your voice strong? Did you slouch? Did you look confident? Etc.

You will finish the first speech assignment by journaling about the speech. How did you feel? How nervous were you? What went wrong? What went well? Where do you think you can improve? Etc.

Cast your play

Share with your classmates your Cast for the Play. I would like you to find pictures of the actors along with the roles that they are playing. Make sure you look at your friend's postings as well an leave a comment.

Adding Blogs

This week I want you to add 5 blogs that you are going to follow throughout the semester. You may pick three friends, but I'd also like you to pick two blogs from people in our classes that you do not know. Then every week, you will have opportunities to see what they are posting and comment on their blogs. I also do not mind if you put other blogs on your list. For example if you find a political blog that you would like to follow then put it on your list.

Here is how to do it:
1. Go to the layout screen
2. Click on "add a gadget
3. Go down to "blogs list"
4. Then copy and paste the link and save it.

Welcome

Welcome to Humor and Satire. What a fun journey we are about to embark on. I know that everyone is so excited about this semester. You will have a lot of opportunities to control your own learning throughout the semester. This is one of those opportunities. This blog is kind of your hub. You can come to this blog in order to get to your classmates blogs, but you will need to put links to your classmate's blogs on your blog. Look on the right side and you should see a list of blogs. You should be able to copy and paste them into your blog. I'd also like you to write an introductory paragraph about yourself. This should be well written, thought out, and interesting to your readers.

Please check your grammar. This is going to be read by classmates, myself, and the worldwide web. Do not look foolish because you did not capitalize the word "i."
